Introducing: Gazoz Mobile Bar

Danielle Shemesh aspired to begin a company that reinforced her passion for sustainability, fostered community, and supported the local habitat and the farmers on the Hawaiian island she calls home. So, she launched an organic beverage and mobile bar business that represents everything she stands for.

Sustainable. Organic. Environmentally friendly. Fresh. Natural.

These are all buzzwords and terms that we see written by brands and businesses looking to promote their products to an increasingly green-conscious audience.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to ascertain which of those corporate claims are accurate and which are empty marketing jargon.

Danielle Shemesh, founder of Gazoz, is someone who truly lives the sustainable lifestyle.

What started with the creation of a healthy, fizzy beverage named ‘Gazoz’ has evolved into a full-blown mobile bar and events catering company.

Specializing in craft cocktails and mocktails, Danielle calls her all-natural approach 'Farm-to-Cup' - think "farm-to-table", but for drinks.

Her team harvests fresh herbs and edible flowers, and source seasonal fruits from the different farms around the island of Oahu where they operate, meaning every event Gazoz serves is doing good for the local environment and the local economy.

Their methods not only look after the land but also the oceans that surround it, reducing the use of plastics and working with local products, rather than imports, as much as possible.

The jewel in the sustainable crown of Gazoz is a light pink, vintage horse trailer bar named ‘Auntie Sue'.

Reclaimed, recycled, and refurbished, the old trailer has been put back to work as a beautiful mobile bar serving drinks and produce which are kinder to our planet.

Check out our conversation with Danielle below to learn more about the creation of Gazoz and where the company is heading next as they spread the important message of sustainability.

Hi Danielle, it’s great to speak to you today, thanks for joining us!

First up, I always like to find out what was behind the creation of a mobile bar business, so what was it that drew you to the industry?

I started Gazoz at a crossroad in my life in which I chose to start basing my decisions on purpose and meaning.

It may sound cliché, but the answers to two simple questions provided clarity on what I wanted to do next.

What am I passionate about?

How can I serve my community?

My answers were short and brought proactive change into my life: I am passionate about sustainability, and I can serve my community by supporting and working with local farmers.

So, what were the first steps in building a brand that you believed in?

For me, the best way to get involved in the community was by attending farmers markets.

They gave me a platform to voice and share my passion for community and sustainable business practices.

At the markets I get to connect and share my creation, Gazoz.

A combination of fresh fruits, homemade syrups, shrubs, organic herbs and edible flowers are added to sparkling water which creates “Gazoz”- a fizzy, fruity, fresh beverage, making it the perfect drink all year round in Hawaii.

"As a part of our mission to deliver a fresh product, we are committed to source locally as much as we can, harvesting the ingredients by season, event location and customer requests."

And where does a mobile bar come into all of this?

Something I built physically for my business is 'Auntie Sue', a 1972 vintage horse trailer that I bought as an old, rusty box in Denver, Colorado.

I drove her all the way to California and then shipped her on a cargo boat to Honolulu!

Then, me and my girlfriend renovated her and now she is a beautiful horse trailer bar living on Oahu :)

Gazoz has become a service and community space that is loved and supported by other small businesses, locals, and tourists alike.

As a part of our mission to deliver a fresh product, we are committed to source locally as much as we can, harvesting the ingredients by season, event location and customer requests.

“Gazoz” - fizzy, fruity & fresh, making it the perfect drink all year round. A celebration of seasonal ingredients and sure to brighten any day - rain or shine.

What have you enjoyed most about running the business? Any favorite milestones or steps of the journey so far?

My favorite part is getting involved in the community!

By attending farmers markets and connecting with clients and customers, I’m provided with a platform to voice and share my passion for our environment.

I also love the venues we get to work at, especially the ranches like Kualoa Ranch and Sunset Ranch because there are always horses on site!

What’s next for Gazoz?

We’re always evolving and looking to make our products even more environmentally friendly.

I believe the new product I am building, using a dry freeze machine, will follow the same path and produce a product with more shelf life.

This product is amazing because it uses dry freeze technology which aids in creating a more sustainable future, food security and preservation.

We are also launching Gazoz Japan, taking our products and services international!
