Introducing: The Iced Cactus Mobile Bar

The story of how this husband and wife duo transformed a dirty, beaten-up horse trailer into the most stylish of mobile bars.

Throughout the history of Roll To, we've seen plenty of mobile bar renovations, from converted vintage campervans to tuk-tuks transformed into tap bars, all in the name of serving up wonderful cocktails and good times for guests.

We think that every mobile bar restoration is amazing, but we’re pretty sure that Kim and Yakir Hashai, husband and wife duo, and owners of The Iced Cactus, have produced one of the most striking transformations we’ve seen.

The pair first began work on what was then a dirty, beaten up 1978 horse trailer in March 2021. By the end of the year, they were ready to roll up to their first events in style.

“We initially wanted a small bar cart, but Yakir loved the idea of the horse trailer conversion”, Kim told us. “Yakir and I used to travel a lot before having our kids. We wanted to share that experience of authentic conversations had over a nice cold drink with others. Yakir used to be a promoter for bars and clubs and he always loved meeting new people.”

Stylish looks and elegant touches make The Iced Cactus a stunning choice for your event bar

As you can see from the photos and videos documenting their progress over on Instagram, it has been quite the journey for this mobile bar.

When the Hashai’s first set to work on the vintage horsebox it’s fair to say that it was falling apart. Metal was rusting and wood rotting. The trailer floor was even covered in hay and sawdust – a stark reminder of the job that the trailer carried out in a past life. You could still smell the equine inhabitants of years gone by.

The team set to work with crowbars, ripping up the trailer bottom and knocking down partition walls.

Most notably, the trailer was given a whole new paint job, inside and out. The exterior transitioned from a bright blue to a sleek, contemporary jet black. The bar’s interior has been revamped in a chic white finish, standing out beautifully against the black frame.

A silver trim, blacked out tires and a stained butcher’s block serving shelf complete a remarkable transformation which makes the horse trailer almost unrecognizable in its current mobile bar format.

Elegant touches such as brass light fixtures, copper glassware, vintage styled taps set in dark wood for kegged drinks and wheel arches adorned with pretty flora add to mobile bar's fresh aesthetic.

There's even a mini light up cactus, of course.

The bar looks super luxurious, whether sitting in the backyard of a house for a baby shower or as the centerpiece at a larger outdoor festival.

As Kim told us, “we’re looking forward to being a part of many different types of events. We are not aimed solely towards weddings but also birthdays, parties and corporate events. We will be soon offering a bar table for more intimate events that the trailer won’t be able to fit in.”

And the bar doesn’t just look great. Drawing on their hospitality industry experience, the couple serve up inventive cocktails and tasty treats. The Iced Cactus will work with clients to create personalized signature cocktails for their event, complete with catchy names (a recent baby shower saw drinks such as ‘A Baby is Brewin’ and ‘Ready to Pop’ being served), and themed decorations.

A stylish vintage bar cart completes the package, perfect for mimosas, fruit and garnishes.

So, at the end of what has been a journey filled with hard work and I’m sure a lot of blood, sweat and tears, what are the owners of The Iced Cactus most looking forward to in 2022?

“With the mobile bar finished, we are ready to party! We’ve so enjoyed meeting clients and making sure their guests are having a great time! We’ve loved that we’ve had people follow our journey along from start to finish and after each of our events, we’ve loved getting positive feedback.”

If stylish design, showstopping cocktails and solid industry credentials are what you need at your next event, then The Iced Cactus may be just the mobile bar you’re looking for.

Thanks so much to Kim and Yakir for speaking with us and we wish them continued success with their mobile bar adventure.
