Now don’t get me wrong, here at Roll To we love seeing all manner of weird and wonderful mobile bars rolling up to events and stealing the show.
We’ve featured everything from reclaimed mail vans and converted '60s campers to horse trailer bars and mammoth airstreams now serving cocktails – each one more unique than the last.
But sometimes keeping things simple is king.
With Coastline Tap, owners Alec and Gracie have done exactly that.
A minimalist design, compact dimensions, four pouring taps, a retro logo and…that’s it. Why over complicate things?
The Coastline Tap rig might be small but it packs a mighty punch.
Petite and versatile enough to fit into almost any location, the mobile bar looks effortlessly cool and just as at home serving at backyard BBQs as it does tucked into the corner of an intimate wedding reception.
Coastline Tap is a quintessentially SoCal mobile bar. The trailer's clean lines, setting sun silhouette and matching logo, combine for a laidback vibe that allows the team to focus on simply serving quality beverages and good times to their customers.
So, where did the idea for this slice of Cali catering cool come from? We caught up with Alec and Gracie to find out.
Hi guys, we love what you’ve achieved with Coastline Tap. So simple yet so cool! What or who inspired you to start your mobile bar?
“Throughout 2020, we spent the majority of our time hiding out in our apartment and working remote corporate jobs. Having over a year of distance and little social interaction, we began to brainstorm fun, unique ways to bring people together again. After a handful of ideas, and months and months later, we finally landed on Coastline Tap, the ultimate mobile bar.”
Awesome. It’s great to see your goals coming to fruition now that events are back on the menu. What have you enjoyed most about running the business?
“Each event has been such a rewarding experience - from the initial planning stages to the actual event, we love working with our clients to bring their dream day to life. It makes us super happy to see the joy these events bring to our clients and their guests.”
Standing at 5.5 feet tall and 7.5 feet wide, the Coastline Tap trailer is deceptively roomy. The mobile bar pops open to reveal a beautiful, dark stained wood serving station and a stylish, blue ink tiled backsplash wall. The bar has enough space to house four pouring taps serving your choice of cold beer, wine, kombucha, hard seltzer, cocktails, cold brew, lemonade, iced tea and more.
The trailer’s clean, no-frills aesthetic makes customization for your event even easier. Clients can dress up the bar with personalized event signage or even an epic balloon garland.
The Coastline Tap ‘Party Package’ also includes napkins, compostable cups, straws, lights for night events, personal trailer styling, custom standing menu and tap labels, plus optional extras like glassware, outdoor games, side pitcher of fresh citrus water or iced tea and custom stickers for your cups.
So, what has it been like going from corporate day job to launching your own mobile bar business?
“It's been so much fun getting to know the small business and event communities in SoCal. Starting a business can be stressful, but everyone we've met in the space, from vendors, event planners, photographers, clients, etc., has been so, so supportive and encouraging.”
What are your upcoming plans for the business and what are you most looking forward to this year?
We're looking forward to expanding and providing a variety of mobile bars in the near future. Keep an eye out! We're currently open and booking for 2022 and even 2023, though this summer is filling up so get in touch fast!"
Thanks so much to Alec and Gracie for chatting with us. We can't wait to see what they add to their traveling fleet over the next 12 months!
